It depends on your occupation and stream. Most Core Skills Stream (482) occupations require a formal skills assessment. The Specialist Skills Stream generally does not require one. We will advise you clearly based on your specific occupation.
Each occupation is assigned to a specific assessing authority. For example, most trade occupations go to TRA, management roles to VETASSESS or AIM, and engineering to Engineers Australia. We will identify the correct body for your occupation.
Processing times vary by assessing body and individual circumstances. Most assessments take between 4–16 weeks. We recommend starting the skills assessment process as early as possible, as it is typically the longest step in the employer sponsored visa process.
Generally you will need certified copies of your qualifications, detailed employment references covering your duties and hours worked, identity documents, and in some cases an English translation. Requirements vary by assessing body — we will give you a tailored checklist.
