The Skills in Demand visa replaced the TSS in late 2023. Key changes include a new Specialist Skills Stream for high earners, a shorter PR pathway (2 years instead of 3), and portable work experience that counts across multiple sponsors.
After 2 years of full-time work in your nominated occupation. Importantly, this time is now portable — it can be accumulated across multiple approved sponsors, so changing employers does not reset the clock.

The Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) increases from $76,515 to $79,423, and the Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT) increases from $141,210 to $146,576. Nominations lodged before 1 July 2026 will be assessed under current thresholds.
