Subclass 500 — Student Visa

The Student visa (subclass 500) allows you to study full-time in Australia at a CRICOS-registered institution. Work rights apply during and after your studies, and family members may accompany you.

Key Requirements

Enrolment in a CRICOS-registered course (confirmed enrolment — COE)

Genuine Student requirement (replaces GTE from March 2024) — demonstrating genuine intention to study

English language proficiency (IELTS 5.5+ overall, or equivalent)

Financial capacity — tuition fees + approx. AUD $29,710/year living costs (2024 update)

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of your visa
